Billing and Insurance

Our office is credentialed with most insurance plans; please see the list below of insurance companies with which we currently participate. If your insurance is not listed, please contact the office to verify that our office participates with your insurance plan prior to your appointment. A copy of your health insurance card is required at each scheduled visit. Failure to bring your insurance card could result in having to cancel your appointment or self-pay for that date of service. Our front desk staff is available to assist with any questions you may have about your insurance; however, we do not know the details of the insurance plan that you have chosen. If you have questions about your benefits and covered services, please call the member services number on the back of your insurance card prior to your scheduled appointment.

Most insurance plans now cover 3D mammography (tomosynthesis). Since in January 2018, all insurers originating in Maryland are required to cover 3D if it is deemed medically necessary by the treating physician.

We are currently NOT participating with: Aetna, Empire Plan of NY, Kaiser, Medstar, Medicaid, and most Medicare Advantage plans.

Patients with Aetna as their insurance can still be seen at Bay Radiology but they will be asked to pay our self-pay rates up front. We will provide the report and CPT and ICD-10 codes needed for you to submit for reimbursement. Plans vary widely in their out of network coverage but many cover out of network expenses at 80%. Please contact Aetna if you have questions about your coverage.
